VOICES of Stephenson County Hosts Pickleball Tournament: In an innovative effort to raise awareness for Domestic Violence Awareness Month, VOICES of Stephenson County is set to host its first-ever pickleball tournament.

Scheduled for Saturday, October 19, the round robin tournament invites participants of all skill levels to register by Saturday, October 5.

  • Pickleball Basics Session: Kicking off at 8 A.M. for newcomers to learn the fundamentals.
  • Registration: Begins at 9 A.M., ensuring all players are prepared for the tournament.
  • Tournament Start: The competition will officially begin at 10 A.M..

  • “DV 101” Presentation: Scheduled from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. on Tuesday, October 8, at the Freeport Public Library, offering insights into domestic violence.
  • “In Their Shoes” Interactive Event: An immersive experience on Wednesday, October 16, from 1 P.M. to 4:30 P.M., allowing participants to walk in the shoes of domestic violence survivors and understand their challenging decisions.

These initiatives underline VOICES’ commitment to raising awareness and providing support for those affected by domestic violence in the community.
