Since its inception in 2019 as the world’s first tour dedicated to pickleball, the APP has consistently prioritized creating exceptional tournament experiences. The decision to shift the Fort Lauderdale Open’s dates aligns with this commitment, ensuring the venue is fully operational and ready to accommodate the large influx of pickleball players and spectators.
Factors Influencing the Date Change
Several factors contributed to this strategic decision. The APP leadership emphasized their desire to showcase The Fort—the organization’s headquarters—when it is at its best, free from construction disturbances and weather-related issues. Hosting the inaugural APP Tour event at a fully functional facility not only enhances the overall experience but also reflects the APP’s dedication to providing the highest quality events in the sport.
In addition to the Fort Lauderdale Open, the APP U.S. Collegiate Qualifier – Southeast Regional tournament (scheduled for December 5 – 7) and both the APP Next Gen (December 5 – 9) and Next Gen II (December 5 – 8) tournaments will proceed as planned at The Fort, maintaining their previously published dates.

The APP is making every effort to communicate this change as early as possible, allowing players ample time to adjust their travel plans and accommodations. For participants already registered for the Fort Lauderdale Open, no action is required to transfer their registration to the new dates.
