Dedicated Pickleball Courts are Taking Shape in Newtown, Thanks to Pickleball Fun Day

Pickleball Courts are Taking Shape in Newtown: On Saturday, September 28, over 150 pickleball fans came together at the Fairfield Hills campus for a Pickleball Fun Day to raise funds for proper pickleball courts in Newtown. The event was held at temporary courts set up in the back parking lot and welcomed players of all ages and skill levels. It was a fantastic day filled with fun, competition, and community spirit!

Generous Sponsorships Fuel The Effort

The Candlewood Center for Women’s Health in Danbury was the main sponsor of the event, with Newtown Savings Bank following closely behind. Other key sponsors included Rings End, Newtown Smile Dentistry, Around Town Real Estate, Chiropractic Center of Newtown, Caraluzzi’s Market, and Sandy Hook Wine and Liquor.

Local businesses also contributed by donating gift certificates and baskets for the raffle. The day was packed with fun activities, including pickleball lessons for beginners and a pickleball tournament for intermediate and advanced players. Participants ranged in age from 14 to 82, showing how pickleball appeals to all generations.

Vendors like Joanne’s Fitness Studio, Lake House Soaps, Shan Trew Davies Designs, and Picklewearcustom.com added to the experience. Attendees also enjoyed tasty food and drinks from the JJ Stacks Food Truck, which offered breakfast and lunch options.
