A Competitive Journey

Cundari and Mountain’s journey to the championships has been remarkable. They first won at the North Bay regional qualifier, then went on to win the provincial championship in Toronto last August. This success secured their spot at the national competition in Dallas.

“I’m seeing so many people at these events, from a two-time Olympic athlete to an 80-year-old with knee braces. It’s super competitive, but that’s what makes it fun.”-(Michelle Cundari)

Fundraising for the Journey

While the chance to compete at this level is exciting, the financial side is a big factor. The 11-day pickleball tournament is estimated to cost around $5,000. To help with expenses, Michelle and Steve have already raised $1,000 by selling grocery cards. They’re also looking into other fundraising ideas, including a possible skills camp at the North Bay YMCA.
