Carson City’s Pickleball Showdown: Get Ready for the Dinks & Drinks Tournament

Carson City’s Pickleball Showdown: As the leaves change and fall sets in, Carson City is ready to serve up some exciting pickleball action with the Fall 2024 Dinks & Drinks Tournament. Running from October 4-6 at the Carson City Multi-Purpose Athletic Center (MAC), this three-day round-robin event promises thrilling matches across various skill levels, inviting both seasoned players and newcomers to join the fun.

Tournament Structure and Schedule

The Dinks & Drinks pickleball Tournament will feature open play, with separate events for Men’s, Mixed, and Women’s Doubles, spanning skill levels from 2.5 to 4.5+. Notably, this year introduces a revised format: Women’s Doubles will take place on Friday, October 4, Mixed Doubles on Saturday, October 5, and Men’s Doubles on Sunday, October 6. This adjustment aims to streamline the competition and enhance the experience for all participants.

Unfortunately, the PeeWee Doubles event has been canceled due to scheduling conflicts with youth sports, but organizers plan to revisit this in future tournaments.

Registration and Fees

Participants can register for up to two events, with the first event included in the $40 registration fee. A second event incurs an additional $15 charge. Additionally, a $5 service fee applies to each registration through Pickleball Brackets. For example, entering both events will total $65. Registration will close on September 27, 2024, and late registrants are encouraged to contact the Tournament Director for assistance.

Community Engagement and Fundraising

The tournament not only focuses on competition but also supports the local community. Profits from alcoholic beverage sales during the event will benefit the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department, while net proceeds from the tournament will contribute to the Mills Park Pickleball Court Project. This initiative aims to enhance pickleball facilities in the area, making it a win-win for players and the community.

Venue and Amenities

The Carson City MAC, located at 1860 Russell Way, has 12 hardwood courts with portable nets, creating a great indoor space for pickleball. Each event guarantees at least three games, giving players plenty of chances to show off their skills. Participants can also buy long-sleeve shirts during registration to enhance their tournament experience.
