CASA’s Pickleball Tournament Drives Funds for Foster Children: A Game Changer

CASA’s Pickleball Tournament: Hackensack—On September 30, Bergen County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) hosted its 2024 Fore the Kids Golf and Pickleball Classic at Edgewood Country Club in River Vale. This exciting event brought together community members for a day filled with fun, friendly competition, and a strong sense of purpose—all aimed at benefiting children in need.

Pickleball Takes Center Stage

The highlights of the day was clearly the pickleball tournament, where participants engaged in energetic matches that showed their skills and friendship. Honoree Marc Blatt, the newly appointed vice president of CASA’s Board of Trustees, led the charge, with his daughters—Hadley, EJ, and Alexis—making their pickleball debut to support their father. Their enthusiasm added a family touch to the competitive atmosphere, inspiring others to join in the fun.

Supporting a Critical Mission

The funds raised from this outing will spport CASA’s mission of advocating for over 120 children in Bergen County’s foster care system. CASA volunteers often serve as the only consistent adult presence in these children’s lives, representing their best interests in court and offering essential stability.

Blatt’s Leadership Inspires the Community

Blatt’s leadership experience, stemming from his work with Rampart Agency and service on various boards, has proven invaluable to CASA. His involvement in the pickleball tournament not only support for the organization’s mission but also showcased the importance of community engagement in fostering change.

Upcoming Events and Volunteer Opportunities

Bergen County CASA is planning more events, and the community is encouraged to participate. On December 12, CASA will host a special performance of Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief: The Musical at the Bergen County Players Theater. Also, mark the calendars for the Annual Casino Night on May 7, 2025, at Seasons Catering in Washington Township.

In addition to these events, CASA is always seeking dedicated volunteers to advocate for children going through the foster care system. The organization provides volunteer training and is particularly in need of male and Spanish-speaking volunteers to better meet the diverse needs of the children it serves.
