Capital City Classic Pickleball Tournament Set to Unite Passion and Competition

The inaugural Capital City Classic is set to take place from October 19 to 20, 2024, at the Frankfort Country Club, located at 101 Duntreath Street, Frankfort, Kentucky. This exciting pickleball tournament is sponsored by Sideout Pickleball and Diadem Pickleball and promises to be a highlight for local and regional pickleball players.

Tournament Structure and Registration

Participants will compete on 12 outdoor pickleball courts, comprising six permanent and six temporary setups. Teams must register and pay as individuals via pickleballbrackets.com using a credit or debit card. The tournament will feature a maximum of 12 entries per Doubles event, with a waitlist available once the pickleball events are filled.

Event Schedule

The tournament is scheduled as follows:

  • Saturday, October 19: Men’s and Women’s Doubles (skill levels: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0)
  • Sunday, October 20: Mixed Doubles (skill levels: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0)

All events will follow a Round Robin format, with six teams per pool and two pools per skill division. The top four teams from each division will advance to the medal rounds, with prizes awarded to Gold, Silver, and Bronze medal winners.

  • Saturday Events: Men’s/Women’s Doubles
  • Sunday Events: Mixed Doubles
  • Round Robin Format: 6 teams per pool, 2 pools per division
  • Medal Rounds: Top 4 teams advance; winners play for gold/silver, losers for bronze.

Game Format and Prizes

In the Round Robin stage, games will be played to 11, win by 2, while the medal bracket will be played to 15, also win by 2. Cash prizes will be awarded to Gold winners in the 5.0 divisions across Women’s, Men’s, and Mixed Doubles.

Amenities and Participant Information

The Frankfort Country Club will provide complimentary water for all players during the tournament. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, and the FCC dining facilities will be open to all participants and their guests. However, outside food and drinks are not permitted.

Withdrawal and Refund Policy

Participants wishing to withdraw before registration closes on October 14, 2024, will incur a $20 processing fee. Please note that pickleball bracket fees are non-refundable, and withdrawals after the registration deadline will not receive a refund.

Weather Contingency Plan

In the event of inclement weather, efforts will be made to complete events as scheduled. If cancellation occurs due to weather, 50% of the entry fee will be refunded to participants.

Venue Information

The tournament will be hosted at the Frankfort Country Club, which features a hardcourt surface, permanent and portable nets, and will use Diadem as the official pickleball. Parking is free, with shuttle services provided from the lower level of the Club House Parking Lot to the courts.
