Fans Rejoice as New Pickleball Courts in Bourbonnais Take Shape

New Pickleball Courts in Bourbonnais: Work continues on the construction of four new pickleball courts at Ed Hayes Park, located on the north side of Bourbonnais. This project has been in progress since July, showing the community’s commitment to expanding recreational opportunities for residents.

First Phase Completed

During last Wednesday’s Public Works Committee meeting, Public Works Superintendent Terry Memenga reported that the public works crew has successfully finished the concrete work. This critical milestone sets the stage for the next phase of the project, which will see the application of the playing surface.

Surface Application Timeline

Memenga emphasized the importance of favorable weather conditions for the application of the playing surface, which is scheduled to take place this month. For the surface to cure properly, daytime temperatures must remain above 55 degrees for three consecutive days. This work is anticipated to commence next week.

Contingency Plan for Spring 2025

If weather conditions do not allow for the surface application as planned, Memenga indicated that the work would be postponed until spring 2025. The community remains hopeful for timely completion, as these courts are expected to become a hub for local pickleball enthusiasts.

Location Details

The new pickleball courts and park are conveniently situated a half block west of North Convent Street on Highpoint Circle South, making them accessible for residents and visitors.
