Nassau County’s Pickleball Dream Takes Shape with New Facility

Nassau County’s Pickleball Dream : Nassau Pickleball 365 is making significant strides toward its new covered pickleball facility in Yulee, promising to elevate the local sports scene. With eight pickleball courts planned for construction, the facility is slated to open its doors by the end of 2024, with an investment of $3.25 million, as outlined in recent county documents.

Prime Location for Pickleball Enthusiasts

Situated at 86365 Koen Lane, just off U.S. 17 and approximately three miles east of the Wildlight master-planned community, the facility is strategically placed to serve the growing demand for pickleball in Nassau County. Gillette & Associates Inc. of Amelia Island is at the helm of the civil engineering for this exciting project, owned by Shelly and Bruce Duncan.

A Vision Realized

A couple of years ago, we started daydreaming (perhaps obsessing) about building a pickleball facility in Nassau County to satisfy the demand for more courts. We finally found 2 acres in Yulee and are now getting into the design and build phase,” said Shelly Duncan on the company’s website. This dream is now becoming a reality, with a clear focus on providing a premium experience for players.

Innovative Design Features

The plans for Nassau Pickleball 365 include covered courts designed to shield players from rain, debris, and sun exposure. Each court will be individually fenced, ensuring a secure and enjoyable playing environment. The clubhouse is set to feature a small merchandise nook for paddles and accessories, alongside a player patio and kitchenette offering coffee. Additionally, a berth for a food truck will enhance the social aspect of the facility.

Amenities to Accommodate All Players

A site plan indicates the inclusion of 49 parking spaces, ensuring accessibility for all who wish to partake in this vibrant new venue. Limited memberships will be available, allowing players to reserve courts and benefit from reduced rates for events and programming. Non-members will still have the opportunity to join in on all events at comparable rates to other activities.

The facility aims to welcome players daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., fostering a community where pickleball can thrive.
