The addition of these courts comes as part of a broader initiative that promises not only more pickleball facilities but also corn hole and several pavilions in the near future.

Mayor Mike Favre expressed his excitement for the new amenities, noting the enthusiastic turnout from local players. “As you can see, there are a lot of enthusiastic people out here to play. Looking for more to come in the future,” he remarked, underscoring the potential for pickleball to grow in popularity within the community.

Vision for Expansion

City Councilmember Gene Hoffman shared insights into the growing interest in pickleball, recalling the significant number of players eager to join the game. “We’ve probably had fifteen people playing pickleball and waiting their turn to play. We hope that continues through the week and through the years to come. We are hoping to expand, get some more courts out here and some tennis courts as well. All in all, we think it’ll be a wonderful facility,” he stated, reflecting a commitment to building a vibrant sports culture in the city.

A Player’s Perspective

Among the players enjoying the new courts was Golden Fairconnetue, who proudly boasted of his early success on the court. “I’ve gotten to a couple of games, I’m 2 – 0 right now. So, anyone wanting to come out and challenge, come out. This is beautiful, thank God for our city and all the people instrumental in getting this done,” he said, highlighting the sense of community that pickleball fosters.

The opening of the pickleball courts in Bay St. Louis marks a significant milestone for the community, promising not just new recreational opportunities but also a gathering place for residents to engage, compete, and build lasting friendships.
