Bea Fischer Foundation Achieves Milestone in Pickleball Fundraising

Bea Fischer Foundation Achieves Milestone: The Bea Fischer Foundation hosted its inaugural pickleball tournament fundraiser on October 5, a spirited event aimed at enhancing the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. The organization’s commitment to improving the quality of life for its beneficiaries has led to this dynamic initiative, showcasing the growing popularity of pickleball as both a sport and a community-builder.

Addressing Critical Needs

According to Kim Crockett, the Foundation’s marketing director, the motivation for launching the pickleball tournament stems from a pressing need to fund essential capital projects. “Over the last few years, we’ve identified several capital projects we need to take care of,” Crockett shared. She added, “Over the same time, we were able to take care of some of the improvements in care homes, now we are switching our focus to equipment replacement.”

The tournament was a remarkable success, raising $13,000 towards a new vehicle specially designed to transport passengers with varying mobility needs. The Foundation’s overall target for vehicle replacement exceeds $150,000, highlighting the significant investment required to meet the needs of those they serve.

Enhancing Accessibility

“These vehicles are a little bigger than your average family van. They have a lift installed,” explained Crockett. “It will allow us to carry many individuals in wheelchairs and some individuals who don’t have mobility issues at the same time.” This upgrade is vital for facilitating greater accessibility and independence for the individuals relying on these services.

The fundraiser took place at the Synergy Community Hub and attracted nearly 100 competitors, each contributing to the event’s lively atmosphere. The Bea Fischer Foundation expressed gratitude to all competitors, sponsors, and volunteers, acknowledging that their collective efforts made the day a resounding success.
