A Sudden “Scary” Attack
The assault took place just after 1:30 p.m., and according to an emailed statement from the Burnaby RCMP, officers responded swiftly. “When police arrived, they located and arrested the suspect immediately,” the statement read. The attacker, who reportedly stood around 6’1″, allegedly assaulted the victim using a glass bottle and other objects found nearby.

Witnesses described the scene as shocking. One Reddit user recounted seeing the suspect, who had been playing music off to the side, suddenly snap and charge at one of the players, who appeared much smaller in stature. “Out of nowhere, we hear him completely snap and charge at this smaller guy,” the Reddit post stated.
Use of Objects During the Assault
The altercation quickly escalated. The Reddit post went on to describe how the suspect swore, punched, and beat the victim using metal poles from the pickleball net, even throwing glass bottles during the attack. “Very scary stuff,” the post read, capturing the intensity and suddenness of the incident.
Police confirmed the assault involved a group of pickleball players and a man who was not known to them. Fortunately, the victim only sustained minor injuries, though the incident has left players and bystanders shaken.
