Alon Day Bio
Alon Day is an Israeli professional stock car racing driver born on 4 November 1991 in Ashdod, Israel. Recognized as a record four-time European Champion in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, Day made history as the first Israeli driver to compete in an IndyCar-sanctioned series and the first Israeli to compete in one of NASCAR’s top three national touring series. He has also been a trailblazer in opening doors for Israeli and Jewish representation across international motorsports.
Standing 175 cm tall and weighing 66 kg, Day is best known for his championships in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series in 2017, 2018, 2020, and 2022. He has competed part-time across the NASCAR Xfinity Series, ARCA Menards Series, and ARCA Menards Series West, primarily with Toyota-powered teams.
Early Life and Background
Alon Day was born and raised in Ashdod, Israel, and currently resides in Tel Aviv. He is Jewish, the son of Avi Day, who owns a geological-engineering company involved in mineral drilling, and Maggi, who originally immigrated to Israel from France. Day’s multicultural background and strong family ties helped shape his disciplined approach to motorsport from a young age.
Day began his racing career with go-karts at the age of 10. For his bar mitzvah, his father gave him a karting vehicle that cost NIS 20,000, an investment that helped launch his path toward professional racing. After high school, he performed three years of military service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and was recognized by the IDF as an outstanding sportsman, becoming the only Israeli in a Formula sport to receive that status. He was accepted into the Israeli Air Force pilots’ training course but gave it up to focus on his racing career.
Path to NASCAR
Day’s path to NASCAR began in open-wheel racing. In 2009, at just seventeen years old, he won the Asian Formula Renault Challenge championship, marking him as one of Israel’s most promising young drivers. He then moved through the German Formula Three Championship in 2010 with Performance Racing, finishing ninth in points, and returned to the series in 2011 with HS Engineering, where he improved to fourth in points and earned his first pole position at Sachsenring.
In 2012, Day’s career transitioned to North America when he signed with Belardi Auto Racing in the Firestone Indy Lights series, becoming the first Israeli driver to compete in an IndyCar-sanctioned series. After six starts, he and the team parted ways amicably. His switch to stock cars came in 2015, when he made his NASCAR debut in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series at Valencia, posting a top-ten finish and earning his first NASCAR win at Magione.

Day continued his dominance in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series with PK Carsport, carrying the No. 24 Toyota. In 2019, he opened the season with two wins at Franciacorta and a win at Brands Hatch but endured rough weekends at Most and Hockenheim, eventually finishing the season fourth in points with three wins, six podiums, and nine top-ten finishes.
