Early Life and Background
Joshua Michael Bilicki was born on June 3, 1995, in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, a suburb northwest of Milwaukee. He grew up in a region with a strong local racing scene, and that environment shaped his early interest in motorsports. Bilicki started racing kid-karts at age four and quickly moved up through the junior categories, gaining valuable seat time on kart tracks across the Midwest.
After several years in kid-karts and the Yamaha 100cc engine class, Bilicki moved to 80cc Shifter Karts, where he showed immediate speed. He won many regional and national races, including the 2008 Road America SKUSA Super-Nationals, an event that drew international competition. He even beat faster 125cc Shifter Karts on several occasions, signaling that he was ready for bigger machinery. In 2011, he moved into 125cc Shifter Karts, and the following year he was recognized by the Andrew Chase Racing-PCR team, joining them to compete in the Midwest Shifter Kart Series in a brand-new PCR Shifter Kart.
Path to NASCAR
At age fifteen in 2011, Bilicki transitioned from karts to sports cars, beginning with Spec Miata competition in the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). Within his first year, he earned two pole positions, four top-five finishes, and three podiums. After earning his national racing license in 2012, he began racing the SCCA Majors Tour, qualifying for the SCCA National Championship Runoffs every time he attempted it. That same year, he also made his stock car debut in an Area Sportsman Stock Car at Jefferson Speedway, a local circle track in Wisconsin.
In 2015, Bilicki reached professional sports car racing for the first time, competing in the IMSA Continental Tire Sportscar Challenge while continuing to race a Spec Miata in the SCCA U.S. Majors Tour. His NASCAR breakthrough came in 2016, when he debuted in the Xfinity Series with Obaika Racing at Road America, his home track. From there, he worked his way through smaller NASCAR teams, building the resume that has carried him through the Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series.
