Early Life and Background
Matthew Robert Mills was born on November 14, 1996, in Lynchburg, Virginia. He grew up in the Old Dominion State and developed an early passion for motorsports that shaped his path toward a professional career. Like many of America’s stock car drivers, he was introduced to competitive racing through grassroots vehicles before reaching the major NASCAR series.
Mills began his racing journey at age twelve when he started competing in go-karts. A year later, he advanced to Junior Champ Karts, where he spent three seasons gaining experience and refining his skills. While he did not debut in either of those series, the seminar gave him the credentials needed to pursue opportunities in NASCAR’s national touring divisions. In 2015, he ran a limited schedule in the JEGS/CRA Pro Series while continuing to build his resume in late model competition, laying the groundwork for his arrival on the national stage.
