Hsieh Yu-Chieh is an exceptional athlete who represented Taiwan in tennis at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Now, she’s swapping her tennis racket for a pickleball paddle and is excited to entertain fans in India. Her move from tennis to pickleball is like seeing a seasoned NFL player switch to the XFL—just even cooler.

Who is Hsieh Yu-Chieh?

At 31, Hsieh has an impressive background in tennis. She has secured 11 career titles and achieved a highest doubles ranking of 129, showcasing her competitive spirit. She is also the younger sister of doubles legend Hsieh Su-Wei, contributing to a family legacy of sporting excellence. Hsieh Yu-Chieh’s brother, Hsieh Cheng-Peng, also competes in doubles, making the Hsieh family a presence in the world of racket sports.

Career Transition

After her tennis career, Hsieh Yu-Chieh has become a standout player for the South East Asia Surge in the MLP Australia. With a win-loss record of 7-13, most of her victories have come from singles matches. As of September 2024, she has played in four professional competitions, totaling 20 matches at the pro level. Her DUPR ratings reflect her skill, standing at 5.307 in singles and 5.454 in doubles.

The PWR DUPR India Masters: A New Era

The PWR DUPR India Masters is set to take place in New Delhi from October 24 to October 27, marking the official start of the Pickleball World Rankings (PWR) season. This three-day pickleball tournament will kick off the DUPR Indian Tour, generating excitement among pickleball enthusiasts.

In July 2024, the Times Group, alongside Pickleball League Asia Private Limited, introduced the PWR during an event in Dubai, aiming to enhance sports management and unify local entities under a cohesive framework for the sport.
