Sarah Burr Excited for PWR DUPR India Masters: Universal Appeal

Sarah Burr Excited for PWR DUPR India Masters: The upcoming PWR DUPR India Masters marks a significant milestone as it becomes the first tournament in India owned and operated by the Pickleball World Rankings. Following the successful launch of the PWR World Tour in Dubai this past July, excitement is high as participants prepare for this prestigious event. Australian pickleball star Sarah Burr has highlighted the sport’s universal appeal, emphasizing its benefits for both physical and mental health.

A Diverse Field of Competitors

Scheduled to commence on October 24 in New Delhi, the PWR DUPR India Masters is classified as a PWR700 event. It promises to feature a competitive lineup, including top international talents such as Dustin Boyer and Phuc Huynh from the United States, Roos Van Reek from the Netherlands, and Australia’s own Mitch Hargreaves and Emilia Schmidt. Leading Indian players like Armaan Bhatia and Aditya Ruhela are also set to showcase their skills on this grand stage.

The Allure of Pickleball

I love it. It’s for all ages and all ability levels. It’s great for your physical and mental health,” Burr shared with Pickleball Now, reflecting her passion for the game. With its roots in tennis, badminton, and table tennis, pickleball captivates players through its unique blend of coordination and strategy. Burr acknowledged the sport’s similarities while pointing out its distinctiveness: “Pickleball uses the hand-eye coordination that exists in tennis, badminton, or table tennis, but it has some different and interesting rules.

Mastering the ATP Shot

When asked about her favorite shot, Burr expressed her fondness for the ATP, or Around the Post shot, a unique legal move that allows players to hit the ball around the net post into their opponent’s court. The aim? To place the ball in such a way that it is nearly impossible for the opponent to return it, showcasing the tactical depth of the sport.

The sport helps us talk and communicate more, and we also celebrate the big wins. It’s a very social sport.
