Padel’s Unique Style and Shot Variety

Johns expressed admiration for padel’s shot diversity, comparing it to tennis and pickleball.

“Adele has maybe the most wealth of, like, dynamic shots, which I really love. There’s so many different styles of shots and situations that are needed.” – (Johns)

He explained that while all three sports require different techniques, padel stands out in the sheer number of shots needed.

“I’d say that the quantity of different shots you need to hit well is maybe the most in padel, which is really cool. It’s also a very controlled game.” – (Johns)

Strategy and Learning Curve in Padel

Johns also emphasized the strategic aspect of padel, stating that choosing the right shot is often more important than executing it perfectly.

“You really have to think, like, maybe, like, to me at least more than pickleball even where, the shot you hit, in certain situations is the most important thing, not just how well you hit it.” – (Johns)

He also discussed the learning curve of padel, comparing it to pickleball.

“Pickleball, I think there’s a very steep learning curve. Like, you learn a lot very quickly. Padel is, like, there’s tons to learn, but you do it more slowly because it’s just a little more complex.” – (Johns)

Johns praised padel’s mechanics and the process of mastering its techniques.

“I just like learning and the mechanics of the game are, I think, pretty beautiful.” – (Johns)

As pickleball continues to grow, insights from top players like Johns provide valuable perspective on how it compares to other racquet sports.
