Rising Star Zane Ford Dominates Pickleball Scene: A Journey from Tennis to Triumph

Zane Ford Dominates Pickleball: Zane Ford continues to rise in the PPA Tour, showing strong results in singles and doubles early in the 2025 season. His latest success came during the North Carolina Open, where the young player proved again why he’s a name to watch on the pro pickleball scene.

Breakthrough and Rapid Rise

Ford’s breakout moment came at the end of 2024 when he reached the men’s singles final at the Daytona Beach Open. Since then, he has appeared as a higher seed in each tournament, especially in singles.

He’s also gained attention in doubles. At the 2025 Veolia Cape Coral Open, Ford teamed up with James Delgado to defeat Quang Duong and Pablo Tellez in men’s doubles.

Big Goals for the Season

Ford is open about his goals but knows they won’t come easy. He is focused and determined to keep improving. By the end of this season, he hopes to be ranked top 5 in men’s singles and top 15 in men’s doubles and mixed doubles. After that?

“I want to be the best player on tour within the next couple years. That’s my main goal.” – (Zane Ford)

From Tennis to Pickleball

Ford’s athletic background started in tennis. At age 14, he moved from Pittsburgh to Naples, Florida, to attend a tennis academy and chase a pro career.

He played in the ITF junior circuit and was once ranked in the top 5 juniors in the U.S. But when it came time to choose a college, he skipped it and went straight to pro pickleball.

New Gear, New Results

In January 2025, Ford signed with paddle brand Six Zero. His agent connected him with the company late in 2024. Ford now uses the Six Zero Ruby 14mm.

“I think it’s really improved my game and I just I make a lot less errors. The Ruby gets a lot of spin and has a lot of control, but you can be still be aggressive when you need to be.” – (Zane Ford)

A Cavs Fan from Pittsburgh

Though Ford is from Pittsburgh, he’s a Cleveland Cavaliers fan. He played basketball and soccer as a kid and followed the NBA closely. With no NBA team in Pittsburgh, he supported the Cavs, especially during their title run in the 2010s.

Building a Brand Online

In late 2024, Ford started focusing more on social media. He now shares reels and tips on Instagram. He said that visibility matters for newer pros. More exposure helps him attract sponsors and build relationships in the sport.

What’s Ahead

Ford’s fast progress has made him a player to watch. With strong goals, growing confidence, and recent results backing him up, he may soon reach the top rankings he’s aiming for. His story shows how quickly a new face can rise with hard work and focus.
