DUPR’s 2025 Minor League Expansion: DUPR announced it will expand Minor League Pickleball (MiLP) for 2025 by adding new formats, including a 3v3 gendered team setup. This move gives more players a path from local play to national championships and new ways to improve their pickleball ratings through team competition.
More Formats, More Opportunities
Minor League Pickleball will now include mixed 4-player teams, gendered 3v3 events under MiLP v3, and gendered 4-player events under MiLP v4. State Pro Leagues will also act as a direct pipeline to elite divisions DUPR 22 and DUPR 20.
“MiLP started as a way to bring high-quality, team-based pickleball to more players across the country,” said Caroline Luelf, Director of Minor League Pickleball at DUPR.
“This expansion takes it to the next level — offering more formats, more pathways, and a national championship worthy of the fastest-growing sport in America.” – (Luelf)
National Championship Details
The 2025 Minor League Pickleball National Championship will be the largest amateur team event ever held. It will take place over five days and include:
Wednesday/Thursday: 50+ divisions
Friday: MiLP v3 (3v3) Championship
Saturday/Sunday: Traditional MiLP divisions
The new Friday 3v3 event is open to any team that competed in a sanctioned 3v3 or 4v4 event during the season and registers in time.
How to Qualify
Players must meet at least one of these conditions:
Compete in one MiLP v3 event in 2025, or
Play in any 4v4 event between January 1 and October 20, 2025, and
Register on a first-come, first-served basis.
Players who qualify for the National Championship can also compete in the v3 Championship.
Why the Expansion Matters
This expansion brings new growth opportunities by widening the field for players and clubs. It also creates a new revenue stream for organizers and makes the championship more competitive than ever.
By adding more formats and more events, DUPR hopes to give players clearer paths to success and raise the excitement for team-based pickleball, one of the sport’s fastest-growing areas.
