Pickleball In Tehachapi’s Parks And Recreation Month Set To Excite

Pickleball In Tehachapi’s Parks And Recreation: As Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District wraps up its celebration of Parks and Recreation Month, the final weekend of July is set to deliver a thrilling showcase of pickleball action. On Saturday, July 27, the city’s courts at 220 W. C St., adjacent to the police station, will host a highly anticipated round-robin pickleball tournament.

This event will spotlight mixed doubles teams, providing a competitive platform for players across various skill levels, where the region’s top talent will vie for supremacy. Following this, intermediate and novice players will step into the spotlight from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering a dynamic display of emerging skills and enthusiasm.

Cornhole Tournament

On Sunday, July 28, the festivities continue with a cornhole tournament from 4 to 8 p.m. at West Park, situated at 490 W. D St. This competition will feature three age groups: 9 to 12, 13 to 16, and over 16 years. The entry fee for the cornhole tournament is $40 per team, with the winning teams receiving a $200 “Shop Local” gift card. Registration is available online at tvrpd.org.

Pickleball Tournament – July 27

On Saturday, July 27, the city’s courts at 220 W. C St., next to the police station, will host an exciting pickleball tournament featuring a round-robin format for mixed doubles teams. The day’s schedule is set to cater to various skill levels, starting with the advanced bracket from 7:30 to 10 a.m. This segment will showcase some of the area’s most skilled players as they compete for top honors. Following this, intermediate and novice players will take the stage from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering a chance for emerging talents to demonstrate their abilities.

Teams can enter the tournament for a fee of $60, which supports the organization and management of the event. Medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each skill category, recognizing their performance and dedication. The tournament not only promises intense competition but also a great opportunity for community engagement. Whether a seasoned pro or a newcomer, participants will enjoy a day of spirited play.

Free Events

Throughout July, TVRPD has been offering a range of free events, with more to come:

  • Stargazing Event: Join the Bear Valley Springs Astronomy Club for an evening of stargazing at Brite Lake from 8 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24.
  • Movies in the Park: Enjoy a screening of Disney Pixar’s Elemental on Thursday, July 25, at Meadowbrook Park, 21750 Westwood Blvd. The movie starts around 8:30 p.m., with snack purchases supporting Triple J Basketball.
  • Community Disc Golf: Participate in a free disc golf session at Meadowbrook Park at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 26.
  • Community 5K Walk/Run: The Freedom Trail in Golden Hills will host a free 5K Walk/Run starting at 6:30 p.m. on July 30, beginning at Meadowbrook Park.
  • Family Zumba Class: Get moving with a free Family Zumba Class at Central Park from 8 to 9 a.m. on July 31.
  • Roller Rink Party: Finish the month with a free Roller Rink Party at ABIAC from 6 to 8 p.m. on July 31.
