Making Memories Classic 2024: Pickleball Tournament for Alzheimer’s Research

Pickleball Tournament for Alzheimer’s Research: The Third Annual Making Memories Classic, a major fundraiser supporting the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Indiana, is set to take place from August 16-18, 2024. This year’s event promises to be the most exciting yet, with the tournament being held on the newly completed 16-court pickleball complex in Freedom Park.

Over the past two years, the Making Memories Classic has raised more than $82,000 to support Alzheimer’s research, community education, and caregiver support. With the goal of a world without Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, participants and supporters are encouraged to donate to this vital cause.

This year’s tournament will feature a round-robin format leading to a single elimination medal round, with age-based brackets and cash prizes for the top teams. The open division offers payouts of $500 for the gold medal team, $250 for silver, and $100 for bronze, with payouts contingent on a minimum of 10 teams per event.

In addition to competitive play, the event will include a Friday evening kickoff with food, music, and open play on the new courts. A hospitality tent will offer free water, fruit, and snacks for participants, while food trucks, vendors, and a raffle with prize packages will enhance the weekend experience.

The pickleball complex is adjacent to Freedom Springs Aquatic Park, making it a perfect opportunity to bring family and friends for a day of pickleball and water park fun. A separate entry fee is required for the aquatic park.

Participants should be aware that this is an outdoor event, and updates will be posted in case of adverse weather conditions. No refunds will be issued after July 27, 2024, and all proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
