Colorado UPA State Championship Registration: In a significant development for the world of pickleball, the United Pickleball Association (UPA) has chosen the state-of-the-art Steamboat Pickleball Center as the venue for this year’s Colorado UPA State Championship Series. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Steamboat Springs, this championship will take place from September 13-15, promising to be a landmark event for the sport.

A Grand New Venue

The Steamboat Pickleball Center, which only recently opened its doors in July, represents the pinnacle of pickleball facilities. This 35,000-square-foot marvel, which saw its construction funded by an impressive $12 million investment, is equipped with 12 indoor courts, a pro shop, and a mezzanine level for spectators.

Jayson Harris, the pickleball director for the Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Complex, represented the excitement surrounding the event:

A Championship for All Skill Levels

This year’s tournament will cater to players across a broad spectrum of skill levels, ranging from 3.0 to 5.0. Competitors will compete for the title of UPA State Champion in each skill level and across six age groups, from 18 and under to 70-plus. The event will feature five playing divisions: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

Pathway to the UPA World Championships

Each state champion will earn an automatic qualification for the elite Champions Division bracket, with an opportunity to advance to the UPA World Championships. Scheduled to be held from November 4-10 at the Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas, this prestigious event will attract an estimated 3,500 amateur players competing for the coveted world title.

As the Steamboat Pickleball Center gears up to host this grand event, the local pickleball community and beyond are abuzz with anticipation. The championship shows the sport’s growth and supports local youth pickleball programs and the Stop Alzheimer’s Now initiative, ensuring that the benefits of this event ripple far beyond the courts.
