Megan Fudge’s Physical Challenges: Is She Ready to Bounce Back?

Megan Fudge’s Physical Challenges: Global Pickleball and APP pickleball pro Megan Fudge shared her thoughts about competing in the Women’s Celebration event, reflecting the spirit of empowerment among female athletes. Despite not being at her best physically, Fudge was determined to participate in this special gathering, highlighting the importance of the occasion.

A Tough Decision

“I knew going into this weekend that I wasn’t at 100%, and there was a chance I wouldn’t finish. If it wasn’t the Women’s Celebration, I probably would have fully rested. But this event is different—it’s a celebration of women empowering women, and I couldn’t pass that up.” – (fudge)

Her commitment to the event showed the sense of community that thrives within the sport.

Looking Ahead to Competition

Eager to compete against Erika Oku, whom she met recently in Chicago, Fudge expressed her anticipation.

“I was really looking forward to playing Erika Oku, too, after meeting her in Chicago just a few weeks ago. She’s a great player who played a fantastic first game today. I hope we’ll have more battles in the future.” – (fudge)

Facing Physical Challenges

However, the competition took a toll on Fudge’s health, leading her to retire from singles due to knee pain.

“I’m very grateful to have had Lily by my side to catch me on the sidelines when I had to retire. It was frustrating—I never want to give up. But playing singles was pushing my knee too much.” – (fudge)

She is set to play in a split-age event to fill in for Simone, who also sustained an injury.

Community Support and Awareness

Fudge expressed gratitude for the support she received from fans, stating,

“Thanks to everyone who has reached out. Sorry to scare people—I’m okay, and I’ll be fine. I’m just frustrated that my body is giving me limits. I appreciate the messages, well wishes, and prayers. I’ll be back.” – (fudge)

In a lighter moment, she noted,

“This afternoon, I got to watch Lily tackle her training, and then we went to get our nails done—pink, of course—in full breast cancer awareness spirit.” – (fudge)

Exciting Matches Ahead

Fudge also acknowledged the new talent emerging in the tournament, encouraging viewers to tune in for the gold medal match between Dominika and Shannon on the APP stream.

“Shoutout to the new names making it to the semis and finals!” – (fudge)
