The Picklr Serves Up Expansion in Canada With 65 New Locations

The Picklr Serves Up Expansion in Canada: The Picklr, a prominent name in the indoor pickleball world, is extending its reach beyond U.S. borders by expanding into Canada. This move comes through a strategic Master Franchise Agreement with TPC Development Corporation, positioning the company to meet the growing demand for indoor pickleball facilities across Canadian provinces.

Exclusive Rights for Expansion

According to The Picklr’s official media release, TPC Development Corporation will hold exclusive rights to develop and operate The Picklr Clubs throughout Canada, excluding Quebec. The agreement outlines plans for 65 new locations across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, and the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.

“The agreement grants TPC exclusive rights to develop, open, and operate all of The Picklr Clubs in Canada, outside of Quebec,” stated the release.

The first club is expected to open in Toronto in 2025, marking the beginning of The Picklr’s ambitious expansion plans in the Canadian market.

U.S. Standards and Canadian Growth

Supported by The Picklr’s corporate team in Utah, these new Canadian locations will mirror the aesthetic, amenities, and membership programs that have made their U.S. counterparts successful. This consistency will allow Canadian players to enjoy the same premier pickleball experience available to enthusiasts in the United States.

Bernie Plett, CEO of TPC Development Corporation, emphasized the advantages of this partnership, stating, “We recognized the tremendous competitive advantage that The Picklr has developed to address the opportunity for indoor pickleball facilities in the U.S. We are confident that the Canadian market will benefit from the years of experience that is now available across Canada for professional pickleball facility design and construction, membership programs, customer experience, venue sponsorships, merchandise, and the full programming available to players of all ages and skill levels.”

Rapid Expansion and International Strategy

The Picklr’s expansion into Canada marks the company’s first step in its broader international growth strategy. To date, The Picklr has sold over 390 locations across 42 states in the U.S., with plans to open 30 new clubs in 2024 and 70 more by 2025. The company aims to replicate this success in Canada, anticipating a similar growth trajectory for pickleball in the northern neighbor.

“With our domestic strategy in full swing, heading into Canada as our first international expansion was a clear next step,” said Scott Schubiger, chief growth officer at The Picklr. “With a goal of expanding into a minimum of five additional global markets by the end of 2025, it was hugely important to start with our neighbors to the north.”

Schubiger praised TPC’s leadership, noting their awareness of the rapid adoption of pickleball in Canada and the market’s potential. “Partnering with TPC brings a wealth of success and experience to the table. We are thrilled that Canadian players of all ages will soon benefit from the industry-leading premier indoor pickleball playing experience.”
