Flyers Sign Garrett Wilson to Two-Way NHL Contract

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed forward Garrett Wilson to a two-way NHL contract for the remainder of the 2025-26 season, as announced by General Manager Daniel Briere. Wilson has been placed on waivers to facilitate his assignment to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League (AHL), aiming to bolster the organization’s depth.

Garrett Wilson, 34 years old and a native of Barrie, Ontario, has spent significant time in the Flyers’ AHL affiliate. He has played parts of six seasons with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms since 2020 and has served as the team’s captain for the past three years, after three seasons as an alternate captain. During his tenure there, Wilson has accumulated 62 goals and 86 assists, totaling 148 points across 338 games.

In the 2022-23 season, he achieved a career-high performance with 18 goals and 43 points, ranking fourth on the Phantoms in both categories, while also leading the entire AHL with 195 penalty minutes. This season, Wilson has contributed 16 points, including 4 goals and 12 assists, over 51 games, missing just one contest.

Extensive AHL and NHL Experience Throughout a Lengthy Career

Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 218 pounds, Wilson has a strong physical presence on ice. Over 15 seasons, he has appeared in 751 AHL games with various teams including the San Antonio Rampage, Portland Pirates, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Toronto Marlies, and Lehigh Valley Phantoms. His AHL career totals include 156 goals and 197 assists for 353 points.

Wilson was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the fourth round, 107th overall, during the 2009 NHL Draft. He has played 84 NHL games, splitting time between the Florida Panthers and the Pittsburgh Penguins, producing eight points with two goals and six assists.
