YMCA’s Pickleball Showdown Sparks Community Spirit and Support for Kids

YMCA Strong Kids Campaign Pickleball Tournament: The YMCA of Central East Ontario will host its third Annual Pickleball Tournament on April 24, featuring a friendly competition between Team Durkins Gherkins and Team Belleville Big Dills. The event supports the YMCA’s programs aimed at helping local children enjoy sports and create lasting friendships.

On the day of the tournament, 36 participants from Belleville and Quinte West will enter a draft to create the two teams. Tim Durkin, Strong Kids Campaign Co-Chair and Captain of Durkins Gherkins, said,

“Many of us have been blessed with many gifts and privileges, but not everyone is so fortunate. The YMCA of Central East Ontario is there to help level the playing field, so local children can participate, receive enjoyment, and make lasting friendships.” – (Tim Durkin)

Supporting the YMCA’s Mission

Sarah Rozema-Seaton, Captain of the Belleville Big Dills, added,

“As a mom of three, I know how important it is for kids to feel included, supported, and simply have the chance to play and grow through sports. Every child deserves that opportunity, regardless of their circumstances. The YMCA of Central East Ontario is coming together as a community to create lasting impact in a child’s life. When we give, we’re helping every kid feel like they belong.” – (Sarah Rozema-Seaton)
