Chennai’s Best Pickleball Courts: Pickleball is rapidly gaining popularity in Chennai, drawing players of all ages. With venues opening across the city, from Kilpauk to Injambakkam, enthusiasts have more options than ever to enjoy the sport. From professional courts to 24/7 facilities, here’s a look at some of Chennai’s top pickleball spots.
Pickle On Top – Kilpauk
Located on a scenic terrace in Kilpauk, Pickle On Top provides an intimate playing environment overlooking the greenery of Bains School campus.
Unlike larger sports complexes, this venue focuses on family-friendly play, making it a favorite for kids and beginners. Owner Prasanna Parameshwaran, a tennis player himself, saw the potential of pickleball as an accessible sport.
“My court is on a terrace floor which overlooks Bains school campus with a lot of greenery, and it’s not in a big commercial establishment. So practically comfortable for family and particularly kids to feel safe. I am a tennis player and could see this sport can be played by anyone who has played very little racquet sport experience.” – (Prasanna Parameshwaran)
“It attracts young and old alike and helps people to connect over sport. My motivation to start at my place was to be able to get young kids to pick up a sport rather than be stuck in the virtual world. With close proximity to many schools, I wanted kids to come and play or learn a new sport.” – (Prasanna Parameshwaran)
Paddle Rattle – Kilpauk
For those seeking high-end playing conditions, Paddle Rattle in Kilpauk features three all-weather indoor courts with multi-layer cushioning to reduce knee impact.
The facility ensures optimal lighting and hassle-free access with ample parking. Partner Pratick Gulecha explains the vision behind the venue.
“At Paddle Rattle, we’ve created a premium pickleball experience that stands out for several reasons. Our all-weather indoor courts ensure uninterrupted play, whether it’s scorching heat or heavy rain. The three state-of-the-art courts feature multi-layer cushioning, minimising knee impact while maintaining the fast pace of the game.” – (Pratick Gulecha)
“Thoughtfully designed lighting provides even illumination, eliminating glare and shadows for optimal visibility. Ample parking right outside makes access hassle-free for all players. With three courts under one roof, Paddle Rattle is the perfect venue for both structured training programmes and high-intensity competitive matches — something few places offer.” – (Pratick Gulecha)
“The most rewarding moment came early on — when my dad, who was initially skeptical about this venture, was among the first to step onto the court. Hearing him swear after missing a shot was all the approval I needed! Beyond that, seeing people in their 40s and 50s play with the energy of professionals reinforces the impact of an active lifestyle.” – (Pratick Gulecha)
NetFit Pickleball Club – Akkarai
NetFit Pickleball Club offers professional-quality courts with a synthetic surface and cushion coating, similar to those used in international venues.
The facility provides high-end equipment, including carbon fiber racquets and tournament-grade balls. Owner Bharath Raj Srinivasan highlights the club’s commitment to quality.
“We are giving state-of-the-art facilities. Whatever the technology they use — it’s called a synthetic court. Normally, you can put a concrete surface and paint on it, but what we do is we have cushion coating. It’s what they use in professional places.” – (Bharath Raj Srinivasan)
“It provides professional comfort. It’s a little thick, soft, and made for the game. It’s imported, and we get that quality. We provide balls that are used in tournaments internationally. We provide carbon fiber racquets, and floodlights are present.” – (Bharath Raj Srinivasan)
Bharath, an avid racquet sports player, was drawn to pickleball for its accessibility and mix of different techniques.
“I play almost all the racquet sports, and this sport is a culmination of multiple racquet sports. It’s easy and less tiring for the players. That’s what inspired me to start this.” – (Bharath Raj Srinivasan)
Picklersss by Sports Den – Kolapakkam, Mandavelli, and Royapettah
Picklersss by Sports Den stands out with its 24/7 availability and semi-indoor courts across three locations. The venue prioritizes community-building and affordability. Founder Sooraj Viswanathan emphasizes the importance of making pickleball accessible.
“Picklersss by Sports Den emphasises on quality of courts and ambience it creates. We are unique in a way because we have a semi-indoor setup and open 24/7, 365 days a year. Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the world. India is catching up with this pace of growth. The Kolapakkam centre is our third venue, with the first and second venue in Mandavelli and Royapettah respectively.” – (Sooraj Viswanathan)
“The rewarding part of it is that we love to see and have been seeing a lot of people from varied age groups, starting from as young as 3-4 years to as old as 65-70 years, coming and playing in our facilities. Our aim is to develop a healthy community through this sport and encourage more people to come and play this sport. We are price-friendly too.” – (Sooraj Viswanathan)
Smashville Tennis and Pickleball Centre – Injambakkam
Smashville Tennis and Pickleball Centre offers international-standard courts with a bitumen base and imported acrylic surfacing, ensuring better bounce and reduced knee strain. Founder Navneeth Baskaran, a former National Tennis Champion, recognized pickleball’s potential and built a strong community around it.
“Our courts are among the few in Chennai that meet international standards.” – (Navneeth Baskaran)
Instead of a common concrete base, Smashville uses a bitumen base with imported acrylic surfacing, offering players better bounce and reduced impact on the knees. The ample setback space ensures players have room to fully engage in the game without constraints.
Originally planning to build tennis courts, Navneeth was drawn to pickleball’s inclusivity.
“Its age-agnostic nature and ease of playability caught my attention, making it appealing to a broad spectrum of people.” – (Navneeth Baskaran)
Beyond the sport, it’s the growing community that makes Smashville special.
“It’s wonderful to meet and socialise with people from diverse and interesting backgrounds. I can’t think of a better way to socialise, play a fun game, and burn off calories than pickleball.” – (Navneeth Baskaran)
Smashville has already made an impact, hosting one of Chennai’s biggest prize-money tournaments last month with 83 entries. As Navneeth describes it, the event was “a smash hit.”
