After earning two All-Star selections and spending six seasons with the Colorado Rockies, Trevor Story joined the Boston Red Sox in 2022. Known as one of baseball’s top infielders, Story’s first three years with Boston were plagued by injuries. In 2025, however, he completed a full season, appearing in 157 games and marking a significant turnaround in his career.
Reflecting on a Year of Personal and Team Progress
Story recently shared his thoughts about the 2025 season.
“Last year was a good year,”
he said through MLB Network.
“I felt like, kind of reset the baseline for myself, being able to post 157 games. That’s the goal, right? Stay healthy, 155 is always my mark. Nice to hit that after missing a lot of games in the first few seasons. Last year was definitely rewarding for me in that sense personally.”
He also discussed the team’s improvement.
“But as a team, I felt like we made a lot of strides, we created a lot of momentum making the playoffs for the first time in a few years. So, we’re looking to build on that.”
Performance Highlights and Future Aspirations
The Red Sox’s 2025 campaign featured highs and lows but ended with a playoff berth. Story posted a .263 batting average with a .308 on-base percentage and .433 slugging percentage over 157 games. He contributed 25 home runs, 29 doubles, and 31 stolen bases. While not quite reaching his earlier status as one of the league’s top players during his Colorado tenure, Story remains a valuable asset for Boston.
At 33, Trevor Story hopes to continue his progress and maintain good health for the upcoming 2026 season, aiming to build on the momentum he helped create in 2025.
