In the first inning, Tigers’ shortstop Kevin McGonigle, ranked as MLB Pipeline’s No. 2 prospect, immediately made an impact by launching a home run off Dominican starter Luis Severino. Swinging at the very first pitch, a 98.1 mph fastball, McGonigle sent a line drive to the right field bleachers, momentarily silencing the home crowd as he rounded the bases.
