The Milwaukee Brewers, recognized as one of MLB’s most balanced teams in 2025, are reportedly exploring a trade to address a persistent lack of power in their lineup. Despite ranking third in league scoring, the Brewers have not possessed a true power hitter to anchor their offense, a gap that could be filled by Houston Astros third baseman Isaac Paredes. The proposed deal would send left-handed pitcher Aaron Ashby and outfielder Garrett Mitchell to Houston in exchange for Paredes, who is known for his home run capability.

According to Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer, the Brewers would gain a strong presence at third base with Paredes, who has averaged 29 home runs per 162 games since 2022. Meanwhile, the Astros would add Ashby, a lefty pitcher with valuable bullpen experience, and Mitchell, an outfielder with potential upside despite limited playtime in 2025. This trade aims to bolster Milwaukee’s offensive power while banking on organizational depth to fill the roster voids.

This is where Paredes, who has averaged 29 homers per 162 games since 2022, would come in. And he’d be an instant upgrade at third base, where the Brewers’ best option might be the recently signed Luis Rengifo. It would hurt to lose Mitchell and Ashby, but neither is irreplaceable in the Brewers’ depth chart. Defensive specialist Blake Perkins could take over in center field, while Ashby is currently one of five lefties in Milwaukee’s projected bullpen,”

Aaron Ashby delivered a solid 2025 season with a 5-2 win-loss record, 2.16 ERA, 76 strikeouts, and three saves over 43 games. Garrett Mitchell appeared in only 25 games last season but showcased promise in 2024 with a slash line of .255/.342/.469 and 21 RBIs in 69 games. Paredes comes at a reasonable cost as well, with a $9.4 million salary this year and a club option worth $13.25 million for 2027, making him a financially viable addition.
