Nashville SC Ghana Duo Ready to Shine in 2026 Campaign

Ghanaian footballers Maxwell Woledzi and Shakur Mohammed have been named on Nashville Sporting Club’s pre-season roster as the team prepares for its 2026 campaign. The duo is expected to contribute significantly as Nashville SC gears up for the upcoming competitive season.

Pre-Season Matches Postponed and Rescheduled

Woledzi, a defender, and Mohammed, a midfielder, were slated to play in a pre-season match against Birmingham Legion FC last weekend. However, the game was postponed due to adverse weather conditions. Nashville SC has arranged a friendly against Orlando SC on Saturday, February 7, to continue preparations ahead of their CONCACAF Champions Cup match against Ottawa on Wednesday, February 18.

Background and Recent Transfers of Woledzi and Mohammed

Mohammed, 22, joins Nashville SC from Orlando City, another Major League Soccer side, after spending three challenging years with the club. He was originally drafted second overall in the 2023 MLS Draft. Woledzi, 24, recently signed a four-year contract with Nashville after transferring from Danish club Fredrikstad FK, where he earned the Player of the Year award prior to the move. The contract includes a team option for the final year.

Anticipation for Impact in the 2026 Season

The addition of Woledzi and Mohammed to Nashville SC’s squad is anticipated to strengthen the team’s midfield and defense, providing new energy as the club prepares for critical fixtures, including the CONCACAF Champions Cup. Their previous experience and potential promise significant contributions in the seasons ahead.
