Sporting Kansas City Signs 15-Year-Old Soccer Phenom

Sporting Kansas City has finalized a signing with 15-year-old midfielder Zamir Loyo Reynaga, setting the stage for his anticipated MLS debut in 2027. This Sporting Kansas City signing aims to integrate Loyo Reynaga into the club’s MLS Next Pro squad, Sporting KC II, for the current season, with plans for him to join the first team next year.

Details of Loyo Reynaga’s Contract and Early Career Milestones

The contract signed by Loyo Reynaga extends through the 2030-31 season and includes a club option for the 2031-32 season. Notably, he became the youngest player in franchise history to appear for Sporting KC II on September 28, 2025, debuting at just 14 years and 251 days old. In 2026, he also participated in preseason training with Sporting KC’s primary squad.

He first entered the Sporting Kansas City Academy in 2023, competing with the under-14 team at the Cronos Cup in December of that year.

Loyo Reynaga’s International Experience and Dual National Representation

Zamir Loyo Reynaga has showcased his versatility by representing both the United States and Mexico in youth international competitions. He attended a U.S. under-14 national team camp in April before playing with Mexico’s U15 squad in July. More recently, he joined the American U15 team during a September domestic training camp and is scheduled to participate in their upcoming training camp in Cyprus later this month.

“When I arrived at the club, I wanted to assess the existing talent within our system and it quickly became clear that we had a player in Zamir with special talent and high potential based on how he was performing last season at the age of 14.”

Lee also emphasized the importance of ongoing development, stating,

“This is a day of celebration for Zamir, his family and the club but the work continues immediately to maximize Zamir’s potential and help him reach the highest level.”

He added,

“Player development is not linear, and our role is to support Zamir through his next period of growth one step at a time through a humble, hard-working and dedicated approach.”
