CF Montréal Secures Rising Star Keeper Samsy Keita

CF Montréal has officially signed goalkeeper Samsy Keita to a Homegrown contract spanning the 2026 to 2028-29 seasons, with club options extending through 2030-31. As a 16-year-old Montreal native, Keita represents the club’s continued commitment to developing local talent through their academy system.

Keita’s Journey from Academy Prospect to First Team

Samsy Keita’s signing marks the 30th Homegrown player deal in CF Montréal’s history and the club’s fifth goalkeeper promoted from the academy ranks. Keita arrived at the CF Montréal Academy in July 2024 after transferring from Celtix du Haut-Richelieu. He played a key role in helping the U16 squad reach the MLS NEXT playoffs last season, showcasing his potential at a young age.

During the past year, the 6’5” keeper was integrated with the first team, attending practice sessions and earning his first invitation to CF Montréal’s training camp in Marbella, Spain, in January. This exposure has allowed Keita to gain valuable experience alongside seasoned professionals ahead of his professional debut.

International Experience and Future Outlook

On the international stage, Keita has represented Canada at the U16 and U17 levels. Notably, in November 2025, he was selected to join the Canada squad for the U17 World Cup held in Qatar, highlighting his rising prominence in Canadian youth soccer.

Reflecting on the signing, CF Montréal Managing Director of Recruitment and Sporting Methodology Luca Saputo expressed optimism:

“We are delighted to announce Samsy’s signing to the first team squad,”

Saputo said.

“His work ethic and goalkeeping skills make him a very promising player. We are confident in his potential and his ability to contribute to our project in the long term.”

What This Signing Means for CF Montréal’s Future

By securing Keita on a multi-year Homegrown contract, CF Montréal not only reinforces their goalkeeping depth but also reaffirms their strategic focus on nurturing local talent through the academy pathway. As Keita progresses, his development will be closely monitored, and he is expected to play an integral role in the club’s ambitions over the coming seasons.

This signing could pave the way for further investment in Montreal-born players, emphasizing the club’s dedication to building a strong, sustainable team grounded in local roots and international aspirations.
