St. Louis CITY SC Honors Tina Turner with Stunning Away Kit

St. Louis CITY SC will pay tribute to Tina Turner with a unique away jersey during their road matches in 2026 and 2027, celebrating the legendary Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s deep connection to the city. The launch of this distinctive St Louis CITY SC kit honors Turner’s lasting influence on music and culture, reflecting her historic ties to St. Louis and her global impact.

Tina Turner’s Roots and Lasting Legacy in St. Louis

Tina Turner, born Anna Mae Bullock, moved to St. Louis at age 16, where she graduated from Sumner High School and worked as a nurse while performing in local nightclubs. It was in these clubs that she rose to fame alongside Ike Turner before launching a hugely successful solo career. Her 1984 album Private Dancer included the chart-topping hit

“What’s Love Got to Do With It,”

which remained number one for three weeks and solidified her influence in music history.

Not only did Tina Turner change music, she impacted culture over decades and continues to permeate it today,

said Carolyn Kindle, CEO, St. Louis CITY SC.

It is a profound honor to celebrate her influence and legacy. St. Louis has long been home to so many artists who have shaped music history and Tina stands at the top of that list.

Design and Details of the Tina Turner Away Kit

The away kit, crafted in partnership with Adidas, marks a first as the brand’s initial collaboration with a female music icon on a soccer jersey. The design reflects Turner’s glamorous style and the electric energy she brought to her live shows. Her silhouette is featured in metallic gold on the kit’s authentication tag, while her signature appears in CITY Red, a nod to her famous lipstick and nails.

This jersey will be CITY SC’s secondary kit in the 2026 and 2027 seasons, prominently displaying sponsors like Purina and BJC Healthcare, along with official patches for MLS and Apple TV.

Her silhouette appears in metallic gold on the kit’s authentication tag, while her signature, rendered in CITY Red, nods to her iconic lipstick and nails,

stated CITY SC in a press announcement.

Community and Cultural Events Celebrating Tina Turner

Alongside the kit launch, St. Louis CITY SC is supporting several cultural events in 2026 that highlight Turner’s lasting significance in the region. The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra will perform a special Tina Turner tribute on February 15 at Powell Hall in the Jack C. Taylor Music Center, offering a classical homage to her music.

St. Louis is a homecoming for Tina. It’s where she first felt the thrill of the stage and the joy of performing,

said Erwin Bach, Turner’s manager and husband.

I’m especially excited for the orchestral interpretation of ‘Proud Mary’ and the initiatives around town. Local kids will discover the power of music and how performance makes it even more meaningful.

From February 11 through 20, the Tina Pop-Up Retail Experience will be open at City Foundry, showcasing the Tina Turner kit and exclusive CITY SC merchandise inspired by the star. Items from Turner’s personal collection, including a dress and one of her Grammy Awards, will also be displayed.

Fans can find the kit and related merchandise at CITY Pavilion on Market Street, CITY Goods inside Energizer Park, and the official CITY SC website.

Educational Initiatives and Upcoming Commemorations

St. Louis CITY SC has partnered with the Center of Creative Arts to develop a music curriculum focused on Tina Turner for local children and teens. This program aims to explore Turner’s enduring legacy by engaging students in performing her songs and understanding her cultural impact.

Tina Turner Night is scheduled for August 22 at Energizer Park, when CITY SC hosts the Houston Dynamo. The event will feature Turner’s hit “Simply the Best” woven into the matchday experience, further celebrating her remarkable career and connection to St. Louis.

By intertwining sports, music, and education, St. Louis CITY SC’s tribute to Tina Turner seeks to inspire the community and ensure her legacy continues to thrive in her hometown and beyond.
