Reed Baker-Whiting’s move from the Seattle Sounders to Nashville SC was officially completed on Wednesday as part of a cash-for-player deal. The Sounders received $800,000 guaranteed, with the possibility of an additional $300,000 in conditional payments, and will retain a 20% sell-on percentage, according to Sounder at Heart.
Financial Details and Homegrown Player Movement
The 20-year-old is the fourth Homegrown player the Sounders have transferred or traded in the past year, collectively generating close to $7 million through General Allocation Money (GAM) and transfer fees. Seattle has now reached the maximum $3 million conversion limit for cash to GAM allowed in 2026, with more than half of Baker-Whiting’s transfer fee qualifying for that conversion.

Longstanding Relationship Between Baker-Whiting and Sounders
Baker-Whiting’s connection with the Sounders began early, entering their Discovery Program at age 11 and advancing through all stages of the club’s professional development system. He made his MLS debut as a 15-year-old in 2021 and ended his tenure with Seattle having appeared in 75 MLS matches, including 15 last season.
