Adri Mehmeti and Julian Hall earned spots on the MLS Team of the Matchday after Red Bull New York secured a 2-1 win against Orlando City SC in Week 1. Mehmeti made an impressive MLS debut by providing his first career assist, while Hall scored twice, leading the team to victory on their home turf.
Julian Hall’s Early Impact in the Season
At just 17 years old, Hall scored both goals in the first half, marking his first multi-goal game in MLS. He became the fifth player in league history to score multiple goals in a single match at 17 or younger. His opening goal came in the eighth minute, making it the third fastest opening goal in franchise season openers, behind Dave van den Bergh’s first-minute strike in 2008 and Andreas Ivan’s goal in the sixth minute of 2019. Hall also joined an exclusive group as the 31st player in the club’s 31-year history to net the first goal of the season.
Mehmeti’s Record-Breaking Debut
Mehmeti, at 16 years and 321 days old, became the second youngest player in franchise history to assist a goal. His contribution highlighted his promising future with the Red Bulls and added a fresh dynamic to the team’s offense.
