Toronto FC has completed the signing of American forward Josh Sargent from Norwich City FC, an EFL Championship club. The 26-year-old striker will join Toronto FC as a designated player under a contract that extends through the 2030-31 MLS season, according to a club announcement made on Friday.

To finalize the acquisition, Toronto FC obtained Sargent’s MLS right of first refusal from St. Louis City SC, offering $500,000 in General Allocation Money spread evenly across 2026 and 2027. Additionally, Toronto may pay up to $225,000 more in conditional GAM tied to Sargent’s performance. The transfer remains subject to completion of medical evaluations, work permit approval, and receipt of an International Transfer Certificate.

Sargent spent five seasons with Norwich City in England, where he made his Premier League debut in August 2021. During his tenure, he accumulated a total of 56 goals and 15 assists across 157 appearances in all competitions. His outstanding form in the 2024-25 season earned him a spot on the Championship Team of the Season after he recorded 15 goals and five assists in just 32 league matches, highlighted by an 11-goal streak over 15 games.
Before joining Norwich, Sargent played two-and-a-half seasons in Germany for SV Werder Bremen, scoring 15 goals and adding nine assists in 83 appearances.
