De’Andre Hunter Struggles in Tough Sacramento Debut

De’Andre Hunter scored nine points while shooting 3-of-11 from the field, including 2-of-4 from three-point range, alongside two rebounds and one assist during Sacramento’s 129-125 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday. He played 26 minutes but could not make a significant impact in his first outing for the Kings.

Transitioning From Cleveland to Sacramento

Hunter’s performance in Sacramento reflected a continuation of his recent difficulties, following a tough end to his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers. After the Cavaliers assigned him to a bench role in December, Hunter averaged 12.3 points per game on 41.6% shooting over 20 games, also contributing 4.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists while playing roughly 23 minutes per contest. Upon joining the Kings, he was immediately inserted into the starting lineup and given more playing time than in Cleveland.

Outlook for Hunter’s Role Moving Forward

Despite the increased opportunity, Hunter still appears to be a player whose value depends heavily on whether his shots fall, which has limited his overall effectiveness in fantasy basketball, particularly in category leagues. While his move to Sacramento suggests his production could improve, he is currently better suited as a streaming option for points, free-throw percentage, and three-pointers in most 12-team fantasy leagues rather than a consistent must-have roster addition.
