Dejounte Murray Injury Update: Return Timeline Expected After All-Star Break

The New Orleans Pelicans have offered an update regarding Dejounte Murray’s injury status, indicating that a clearer timeline for his return is expected after the All-Star break. Murray, who has not yet played in the 2024-25 season due to a torn Achilles tendon, is showing encouraging signs of progress as he continues to recover.

Progress Seen During Practice Sessions

Interim coach James Borrego shared the latest details ahead of the Pelicans’ upcoming home game against the Sacramento Kings, emphasizing that while no exact return date is available, Murray’s involvement in recent practices is promising. Borrego confirmed,

“No timeline yet. I think we’ll have a better idea after the break, but it’s great to have him back on the court. He was a participant yesterday, a limited participant, and I think that will ramp up over the next couple of days.”

He added,

“We’ll get into the All-Star break, and then see where we go from there.”

Leadership and Morale Boost from Murray’s Return

Murray’s presence during practice has been a significant uplift for the Pelicans team dynamics. Coach Borrego expressed admiration for Murray’s dedication throughout his recovery, saying,

“It’s just great having him out there. I’m so proud of him. What a devastating injury, but the way he’s handled it, the way he has attacked it, he deserves a ton of credit. He and his team and our team, the entire performance team, deserve a ton of credit.”

He further described Murray’s impact, stating,

“It’s just great to have him back out there. You can feel his presence, his leadership, his confidence. It’s a massive boost for this organization.”

Looking Ahead to Murray’s Return and Team Prospects

While the Pelicans await the All-Star break to finalize Murray’s return schedule, the team and fans remain hopeful that their star guard will regain full strength and resume a leading role. His return is anticipated to enhance the New Orleans Pelicans’ competitiveness as they progress through the season, offering renewed energy and leadership on the court against opponents like the Sacramento Kings, Miami Heat, and others in their schedule.
