Miami Heat Injury Report: Tyler Herro Out vs. Wizards

The Miami Heat will face the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, March 10, without key guard Tyler Herro due to left quad soreness. After initial warmups, the team confirmed that Herro would not participate in the matchup as a precaution.

Herro’s season has been frequently interrupted by injuries, limiting him to just 20 appearances in 65 games this year. The shooting guard began the regular season recovering from ankle surgery, which sidelined him for the Heat’s first 17 games. In January, he suffered multiple fractured ribs that kept him out for over a month. Although the current quad injury seems precautionary, it remains a concern that fans and staff will continue to watch closely.

Just happy to be playing basketball again,

Herro said to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald following his return to the court in February.

It’s been a rough couple of months, going through different knick-knack injuries. Nothing really super big of an injury that’s going to affect my whole body or career in the long term, which is the hard part about it, because it’s just small, little injuries that I have to get over. So I’m happy to be back.

Herro’s Recent Performance Reflects Career-Best Play

Since recovering from injury, Tyler Herro has delivered some of the most impressive performances of his career, highlighted by three consecutive games scoring 25 points or more. Notably, he posted 33 points, 9 assists, and 9 rebounds in a strong showing against the Charlotte Hornets. Over the season, Herro averages 22.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.

He is also recognized for being part of the distinguished 50-40-90 shooting club, emphasizing high efficiency from the field, three-point line, and free-throw stripe as the Heat approach the season’s final 17 games. The team has won five games in a row, a stretch in which Herro’s contributions have been central to Miami’s efforts to avoid falling further into a play-in tournament spot.

Additional Absences Leave Miami Heat Short-Handed Against Wizards

Beyond Tyler Herro, the Heat will be missing several other starters in the game against Washington. Guard Norman Powell continues to sit out due to a groin injury and is unlikely to return for several weeks, marking his sixth consecutive missed game. Forward Andrew Wiggins is sidelined for his third straight game with a toe issue.

Newly injured players include center Kel’el Ware, who sustained a shoulder injury in the recent contest against the Detroit Pistons and will not play against the Wizards. Forward Nikola Jovic remains out as he manages lower back discomfort.

In response to these absences, the Heat plan to start a lineup featuring guard Davion Mitchell, guard Kasparas Jakucionis, forward Myron Gardner, forward Pelle Larsson, and center Bam Adebayo. According to Anthony Chiang, this will mark Miami’s 22nd unique starting lineup of the season and the first time this particular group has begun a game together.
