Delanie Walker, former tight end for the Tennessee Titans, will appear today in a high-profile Super Bowl commercial promoting prostate cancer screening. The advertisement, created by Novartis, includes Walker alongside current and former NFL tight ends, sharing an important health message aimed at men aged 40 and above.
Campaign Promotes Simple, Non-Invasive Screening Methods
The commercial presents the players engaging in calming activities such as yoga, painting, lounging in a pool, and relaxing in a hammock, where Walker is shown. The campaign, titled “Relax, it’s a blood test,” seeks to dispel common fears about prostate cancer screening, especially concerns linked to invasive procedures.
“We just really want to stop the stigma on what people think of a cancer screening,”
Walker said.
“Guys my age, 40 and up, when you think about prostate cancer they think of rectal exams. With this campaign, we are just trying to get people to understand it is as easy as a blood test, and that is where the campaign ‘Relax, it’s a blood test’ comes from.”
Personal Connection Drives Walker’s Advocacy
The issue hits close to home for Walker because his father-in-law succumbed to prostate cancer. This loss motivates his involvement in the campaign that encourages early detection through routine screening.
“I am thankful to be a part of it and get the message out,”
Walker said.
“If he had caught it earlier, maybe we could have prevented it from happening. But that’s the message, to try and catch it early. If you can catch it early, you can prevent it from taking your life.”
Raising Awareness to Encourage Health Consciousness in 2026
Walker hopes that widespread discussion about prostate cancer screenings will grow as a result of this campaign, leading to increased health vigilance among men. The emphasis is on early detection to reduce mortality linked to prostate cancer as the message reaches a global audience during the Super Bowl broadcast.
