Jalen Hurts Joins Super Bowl Legends Before Big Game

Before the start of Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was recognized alongside some of the most celebrated figures in NFL history. Hurts stood among legends including Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Steve Young, Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, and Lynn Swann. Notably, Hurts was the only active player to receive this honor, highlighting his rising stature in the sport.

Hurts’ Path to Becoming a Super Bowl Legend

Although the Eagles fell short in the 2025 season and did not repeat as champions, Jalen Hurts delivered a commanding display in Super Bowl LIX during the previous year. Leading Philadelphia to a 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, Hurts earned Super Bowl MVP honors. This achievement places him alongside Nick Foles as the only Eagles quarterbacks to receive that distinction and establishes him as just the fourth Black quarterback to win the Super Bowl.

In that game, Hurts completed 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception, posting a 119.7 quarterback rating. He also made a significant impact on the ground, rushing 11 times for 72 yards and a touchdown—a new Super Bowl record for rushing yards by a quarterback, breaking his own record from Super Bowl LVII.

Recognition of Hurts’ Outstanding Performances

Jalen Hurts’ performances on the biggest stage have drawn praise from evaluators such as Pro Football Focus, which noted his Super Bowl outings among the best quarterback displays since 2006. Among Eagles quarterbacks, only Nick Foles received a higher grade for his championship game showing. These evaluations underline Hurts’ growing legacy in the league and his key role in Philadelphia’s recent success.

Looking Ahead: Changes and Opportunities for the Eagles

As the Eagles prepare for the 2026 season, they will look to bounce back with new leadership on offense. Sean Mannion has been named the new offensive coordinator, signaling a fresh strategic approach. Additional adjustments may follow during the offseason as Philadelphia aims to build on its championship foundation and continue competing at the highest level.
