Mike Brown Shrugs Off Knicks’ Shooting Struggles in OT Loss

New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown addressed his team’s shooting issues following a 137-134 overtime loss to the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden. Despite strong efforts from players like Karl-Anthony Towns, the Knicks were unable to convert key shots in the extra period, ultimately falling short against the Pacers.

Brown noted that the Knicks, including All-Star guard Jalen Brunson, were able to create good scoring opportunities in overtime but struggled to finish them. According to SNY TV’s Ian Begley, Brown emphasized that the players received the looks they wanted but just failed to connect when it mattered most.

I thought Jalen down the stretch had some pretty good looks. He got to his spot. Or he got to the spots that he normally gets to. He just came up short. But we got the ball where we needed to get the ball, and we got the looks that we wanted to look for during that time. Sometimes they just don’t go in, and tonight was one of those nights.

The Knicks ended the game shooting 50% overall but struggled from beyond the arc, going 14-for-46 on three-pointers, including a 2-for-5 mark in overtime. Brunson led the team with 40 points, supported by four other starters scoring in double figures, such as Mikal Bridges with 22 points and Karl-Anthony Towns contributing a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds.

Entering his second season with the Knicks, Towns called the moment at Madison Square Garden one he will always remember, highlighting the significance of being able to step up in a tight situation.

It’s cool. It’s the kind of moment you live for, you know, being at MSG, with the game in your hands, and you’re able to do something to give your team a chance to win,

Towns said.

It was really cool. It was a moment I was definitely hyped for. I got really excited for it. I was ready to go up there and make those shots for our team.
