Tyreek Hill, wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins, provided an update on his progress following a season-ending ACL injury sustained in September 2025. Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the EA Sports Madden Bowl on February 6, Hill discussed his current health status and outlined his interests beyond football during his recovery process.
During the Monday Night Football game against the New York Jets on September 29, 2025, Hill suffered a dislocated knee along with a torn ACL and additional ligament damage. Despite the severity, Hill maintained a positive demeanor by clapping to acknowledge the crowd as he was stretchered off the field. Since then, he has undergone surgery and engaged in rehabilitation aimed at returning for the start of the next NFL season.
Details on His Rehabilitation and Physical Progress
Hill reported feeling optimistic about his recovery, sharing to PEOPLE,
“I’m feeling good. I mean, I’m walking with no brace on right now. I’m in my second week of walking with no brace, so I’m proud of that. So I’m feeling good.”
Surgery was conducted promptly after the injury, with Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus confirming that it went
“very well according to his doctors.”
The realistic goal remains a full comeback at the beginning of the upcoming season.
Exploring New Passions During Recovery
Alongside intensive rehab, Hill has been exploring hobbies outside of football, particularly his new interest in music as a DJ. He recently performed at an Adidas event, describing his experience:
“So you want to know what’s crazy? I actually just came from DJ’ing. So I actually learned how to DJ two months ago and I actually DJ’ed my second time in front of a lot of people here at this Adidas event today,”
Hill explained.
He added insight into his motivation for DJ’ing, stating,

“It was crazy, man. A lot of people were happy. I feel like when I DJ, I want to make people happy. I feel like my music, I want to make people feel good. I want to make people feel like it’s a vibe. You know what I’m saying? So I learned how to DJ.”
When questioned about whether DJ’ing could become a full-time career after football, Hill was candid:
“Nah, not for real. It’s just something that I’m doing in the pastime. I feel like I’m a guy who can do a lot, man. I love DJ’ing. I love cars, so I also got my car dealership license. I’m also trying to get back into school.”
Hill further revealed academic ambitions,
“I’m very huge into general construction. So I want to go back to school for that. I got a lot of passions for a lot of things.”
Personal Challenges and Off-Field Matters
Hill’s injury occurred amid personal difficulties off the field. In April 2025, his estranged wife Keeta Vaccaro filed for divorce, citing multiple instances of domestic violence in court documents. Despite these challenges, Hill has sought to focus on football and family.
In early September, Hill addressed the potential distraction his personal life presented, saying to reporters,
“My focus right now is just playing ball and spending time with my kids and just doing what I’m best at: providing for my family. So all the noise, I feel like if you allow that kind of stuff to get in the way of what you’re trying to do, it can only cloud what you’re really trying to get accomplished.”
Support from Teammates and Coaching Staff
Following Hill’s injury, Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel praised his attitude and influence on the team. McDaniel observed,
“He was inspiring in that situation, and I think his teammates benefited from that,”
after Miami’s victory over the Jets. This positive mindset has been a key factor in the team’s dynamics during a challenging period.
Looking Ahead: Hill’s Next Steps and Recovery Outlook
As Hill continues his medical rehabilitation and pursues his varied interests, the focus remains on returning strong for the 2026 NFL season. His commitment to recovery, combined with his enthusiasm for music, cars, and education, suggests a well-rounded approach to life beyond football. Hill’s openness about his journey highlights his resilience and the potential for success both on and off the field in the future.
