Chiefs’ Rashee Rice Sued for Abuse Amidst NFL Investigation

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice faces serious allegations after a lawsuit filed Monday in Dallas County, Texas, accusing him of physically abusing his longtime partner. The complaint details incidents of grabbing, choking, scratching, and hitting that reportedly caused

numerous physical injuries and significant pain and suffering,

according to the court documents. The case involves his partner, Dacoda Jones, who is also the mother of his two children, seeking damages of at least $1 million.

Details of Abuse and Duration of Allegations

The legal filing outlines additional troubling behavior, including Rice allegedly throwing household items, breaking furniture, and locking Jones out of their home late at night.

Many of these behaviors occurred while Ms. Jones was pregnant,

the lawsuit states. The abuse is said to have continued over almost two years, from December 2023 through July 2025, occurring in their residences in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Victory Park, Texas.

Public Response and Ongoing NFL Investigation

Jones took to social media in January to share photos she says document some of the abuse.

I’ve protected his image too long and I’m done doing that. It’s time to protect my peace, protect my children and stand up for myself,

she wrote on Instagram. Following the public allegations, the NFL confirmed it is investigating Rice under its personal conduct policy. The Kansas City Chiefs also acknowledged the situation, stating,

The club is aware and remains in communication with the National Football League.

Background Context: Previous Legal Issues and NFL Disciplinary Action

This lawsuit comes amid ongoing legal difficulties for Rice, who was convicted of a hit-and-run in Dallas in 2024. He was sentenced to five years of probation and served a 30-day jail term. The NFL responded to that incident by suspending Rice for the first six games of the current season.

Significance and Future Implications

The abuse allegations against Rashee Rice have intensified scrutiny on his personal conduct both legally and within the NFL. The ongoing investigation could affect his career and contract status with the Kansas City Chiefs. Meanwhile, the lawsuit highlights broader concerns about athlete behavior off the field and league responses to such situations. The outcome will be closely watched by fans, the Chiefs organization, and the NFL as they navigate the legal and disciplinary challenges ahead.
