Chiefs’ Rashee Rice Sued for Repeated Assault by Ex-Girlfriend

Dacoda Nichole Jones, the former partner of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice, has filed a lawsuit accusing him of multiple acts of physical abuse from December 2023 through July 2025. The allegations detail incidents of choking, strangling, scratching, hitting, and headbutting that reportedly took place in Dallas, as disclosed in court documents obtained this week.

The suit claims that Rice

“continued to repeatedly [assault] Dacoda Jones over the course of their relationship.”

Jones, who shares two children with Rice, asserts that much of the alleged abuse happened while she was pregnant, leading to

“bleeding, swelling, bruising, and other pain and physical injury to her neck, face, mouth, arms, legs, chest, and shoulder.”

Additional Claims Highlight Violent Behavior and Property Damage

Beyond the physical assaults, the lawsuit mentions other aggressive actions including Rice throwing objects, punching walls, and breaking furniture. Jones is pursuing damages exceeding $1 million, though the exact amount was not specified in the filing.

The Chiefs organization acknowledged the lawsuit, stating,

“The club is aware & remains in communication with the National Football League.”

Jones’ Social Media Account Detailed Abuse Before Removal

Jones had publicly shared her experience last month on Instagram, detailing years of abuse without naming Rice directly. The posts included images of bruises and scratches on her body. She accused her abuser of locking her outside during pregnancy in cold weather, damaging her belongings, and abandoning her and their children in Kansas.

Ongoing NFL Investigation and Rice’s Recent Legal Issues

The National Football League has launched an investigation into Rice for potential breaches of its Personal Conduct Policy amid these new allegations. This inquiry remains active as the league evaluates the situation.

Separately, Rice recently made his relationship with model Rubi Rose public on Instagram. He has also faced legal consequences for a high-speed multi-vehicle accident in Dallas during the 2024 NFL season, pleading guilty to related charges. Rice received five years of deferred probation along with a 30-day jail term to be served within the probation period. The incident led to a six-game suspension from the league, and Rice agreed to pay over $1 million in settlements to the crash victims.

Implications for Rashee Rice and Broader Consequences

This lawsuit places Rashee Rice, a rising star and Super Bowl champion, under intense scrutiny both legally and within the NFL community. The violent abuse accusations, combined with Rice’s prior legal troubles, could significantly impact his professional career and public image. As the NFL investigation continues, the Chiefs and the league’s response will likely play a critical role in determining Rice’s future involvement in professional football.

The case also brings forward ongoing discussions about accountability and protection for victims in high-profile sports environments, highlighting the challenges faced by those speaking out against abuse.
