Veteran guard Dalton Risner, who plays for the Cincinnati Bengals, is entering unrestricted free agency. The Bengals’ director of player personnel, Duke Tobin, confirmed that the team has discussed a potential contract extension with Risner, noting that he fits well within their system and has made a positive impression in the locker room.
“I thought it ended up being a great fit for him in how we play, and he became a great fit for us and came in and filled the need for us. Did a nice job, fit in well, got a ton of respect for him, really enjoyed getting to know him. He’s really, you know, a fantastic person just to be around in the locker room on a day-to-day basis. And he’s a guy that we’ve talked to, and we’ll see if we can get something done. He’s got decisions to make, and we’ve got decisions to make, and he’s a guy that we like a lot,”

Browns Host New Offensive Coordinator with Run Game Expertise
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Browns are in the process of onboarding Travis Switzer as their new offensive coordinator. Head coach Todd Monken highlighted Switzer’s background as a run game coordinator with the Ravens and praised his readiness for the role, emphasizing Switzer’s intelligence and ability to teach players effectively.
Monken said,
“He was our run game coordinator, and that’s where it all starts with your ability to run the football. So, he’s ready for this challenge. He’s intentional, he’s intelligent, and he can teach. Probably where I’ve seen him grow the most is in front of the players. Confidence in front of the players. I think over time, you build confidence getting up in front of those guys and being able to teach and convey our thoughts offensively.”
Ravens Update on Nnamdi Madubuike’s Status and Draft Plans
Eric DeCosta, general manager of the Baltimore Ravens, provided an update on defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike’s uncertain offseason status, indicating it hasn’t affected the team’s draft strategy. DeCosta emphasized patience in roster management, drawing from past lessons learned under former executive vice president Ozzie Newsome.
DeCosta stated,
“It doesn’t affect me very much. I think if we have the chance to draft a great defensive tackle, of course we will. It is one of the most important positions in football. Salary cap-wise, it doesn’t have any major impact on us at this time. There are a lot of unknowns when you build a team, and sometimes — I learned from [executive vice president] Ozzie [Newsome] — sometimes the best thing to do is just wait for more information, and that’s what we’ll continue to do.”
Implications for Teams and Next Steps
Dalton Risner’s free agent status is a key focus for the Bengals as they seek to solidify their offensive line and maintain continuity within the roster. Concurrently, the Browns’ elevation of Travis Switzer to offensive coordinator signals a commitment to strengthening their ground game, which can influence both player development and offensive schemes. The Ravens’ cautious approach with Madubuike highlights an understanding of roster fluidity during the offseason, suggesting that teams must balance immediate needs with long-term planning.

As these developments unfold, the Bengals’ contract negotiations with Risner will likely shape their offensive line strategy, while Cleveland and Baltimore prepare to enter the new season with restructured coaching and player personnel decisions. Fans and analysts will be watching how these moves impact team performance and competitive prospects across the NFL.
