South Carolina running back Rahsul Faison spent this weekend in Indianapolis participating in the NFL Combine, representing one of four Gamecocks at the event. Speaking with the media before his workout, Faison shared a message for the South Carolina fanbase amid his ongoing pursuit of an NFL career.
Reflecting on a Challenging Journey to the NFL Combine
Faison expressed gratitude toward fans who supported him through a difficult eligibility battle in 2025.
I would definitely want to say that I appreciate them,
Faison said.
They stood by me when I had a long journey fighting the NCAA for my year back last year.
He only received his official NCAA eligibility notice shortly before South Carolina’s season opener against Virginia Tech and managed to play less than a week later. Now a seventh-year senior, Faison’s path included stops at multiple junior colleges and Utah State before joining the Gamecocks.
Despite being older than typical prospects, Faison only has three years of actual playtime, including one season at junior college. The NCAA ultimately granted him eligibility for the 2025 campaign, allowing him to take on a lead role for South Carolina’s offense.
Performance Highlights During Final Collegiate Season
During his sole season with the Gamecocks, Faison served as the primary running back despite facing challenges from an underperforming offensive line. He averaged an impressive 4.9 yards per carry, accumulated nearly 600 total yards, and scored three touchdowns, showcasing his resilience and skill at the collegiate level.
Plans and Prospects Following the NFL Combine
Beyond the Combine, Faison participated in the Senior Bowl earlier this winter, solidifying his aspirations for the 2026 NFL Draft. While draft selection is not guaranteed, he is considered a strong candidate for gaining an opportunity as an undrafted free agent.
Faison’s potential is also recognized by the Canadian Football League, where the Toronto Argonauts have placed him on their negotiation list, indicating interest if NFL options do not materialize.
Athletic Measurements and Final NFL Testing
On Saturday, Faison recorded his official Combine measurements at 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 208 pounds. He impressed among running backs in the vertical and broad jump events, ranking as one of the top performers at the Combine. His workout and athletic testing will conclude on Sunday.
Message for the South Carolina Supporters
To the fans who remained loyal and supportive throughout his uncertain journey, Faison shared a forward-looking statement.
Stay tuned because there is more to come, for sure,
he said.
As Rahsul Faison continues to pursue his professional football goals, his persistence and athleticism suggest that both NFL and CFL teams will closely watch his next moves, making this an important period for his career’s future trajectory.
