Bengals Lock In Dalton Risner with Major Two-Year Extension

CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Bengals have finalized a significant two-year contract extension with starting right guard Dalton Risner, securing his presence through the 2027 NFL season. The agreement was confirmed on Monday morning following positive negotiations between the team and Risner’s representatives, which took place last week during the NFL combine.

Risner expressed a strong desire to remain in Cincinnati, a sentiment that was publicly shared by his wife, Whitney Risner, who announced the contract renewal on Instagram. The player’s preference to stay was a key factor in expediting the arrangement.

Risner’s Commitment to the Bengals Organization

Throughout the offseason, Risner made his intentions clear, emphasizing his connection to the Bengals and the coaching staff. He specifically cited head coach Zac Taylor and offensive line coach Scott Peters among the reasons he wanted to continue his career in Cincinnati. Risner highlighted the chemistry he shares with teammates and praised the organization’s environment as ideal for him.

He stated,

“This is where I want to be,”

expanding on the importance of playing alongside Amarius Mims and Ted Karras and contributing to a team led by familiar coaches such as Mike McCarthy and Dan Pitcher. Risner also voiced his eagerness to block for prominent players like Joe Burrow, Chase Brown, Tee Higgins, and Ja’Marr Chase. His connection with the offensive line helped solidify his commitment to the Bengals.

Teammates Express Strong Support for Risner’s Return

Following the Bengals’ season finale, right tackle Amarius Mims showered praise on Risner and underscored how vital he has been to both the offensive line and the overall team performance. Mims vocalized his desire to have Risner remain alongside him, reflecting on the ongoing improvement they achieve when playing side by side.

In a one-on-one discussion, Mims remarked,

“I feel like he’s one of the best right guards in the NFL. He’s helped my game tremendously. As you can see, once we step down beside each other, each week you can see us getting better and better beside each other. I fully stand behind him. I fully support him. I want him back. I want him to be my right guard next year. I won’t rest until he is my right guard next year.”

He added,

“It’s a no-brainer to bring him back. He’s helped our offense so much. I feel like overall he’s been one of our best O-linemen on the team, 100%. I feel like he’s been the best.”

Impact of the Contract Extension on Bengals’ Offensive Line Stability

With Dalton Risner’s extension now official, the Bengals solidify the core of their starting offensive line around Joe Burrow for the 2026 season, maintaining continuity and strengthening the team’s offensive foundation. This move represents a major step for Cincinnati’s roster strategy, ensuring that key contributors remain intact as the franchise aims to build on its recent successes.

Risner’s commitment and the expressed support from teammates emphasize the offensive line’s cohesion, which is crucial for the team’s performance going forward as they aim to compete at a high level in upcoming seasons.
